2019, March 5
OKCupid had contracted Mary, an artist, to create a series of art pieces. In the afternoon of March 5, Mary posts the following piece to her account @drawnbymary.

Sarah sees Mary’s post. She reposts the artwork and accuses Mary of plagiarism. The following shows Sarah's repost and Instagram stories where she posts additional conversations on the topic.


Later that day, Mary opens her account. She sees a large number of notifications alongside Sarah’s post accusing her of plagiarism. She sends the post to her husband. Five minutes later, Sarah blocks Mary.
Mary’s husband, DeAndre, DMs Sarah. He asks if she’d be willing to talk. Sarah states that she doesn’t want to experience the trauma of speaking with Mary, so DeAndre converses with Sarah instead. He attempts to find a resolution.

Meanwhile, Mary posts her first apology to her Instagram story. Around 11pm, she posts the apology to her account. The following pictures show Mary’s story and subsequent post. In the apology, Mary incorrectly identifies Sarah as black. She’d received this incorrect information from @girlpowerupply who takes accountability for the mistake on her account.

Sarah posts the following to her account in an attempt to show that Mary plagiarized her. The posts pictured appear to be from Sarah's private Facebook account.





@dateosphere, an account with 10k followers, posts the following story. On March 20th, Instagram deletes their account. @dateosphere switches to their backup account, @t.h.e.c.u.l.t . For the full story, click here.

@dateosphere, now @t.h.e.c.u.l.t, sends the above information to the Sleuth Squad. The Sleuth Squad posts the following on @whydidyouswiperightho with the goal re-attempting to exonerate Mary and expose Sarah.
